Racial disparities in marijuana arrests exist nationwide across various demographics (urban/rural, wealthy/poor, etc.), according to the American Civil Liberties Union.

Our inquiry needs to start with an acknowledgment of the history of racial discrimination in our drug policy and moves toward serious evidence-based research. If we fail to do so, we will remain the willing participants of negative connotations that will continue to hinder cannabis research & medicinal/recreational consumption back.
